Now it's not over yet as ComCom will still take submissions until November 23 and its report is not expected to be completed until sometime next year when the House of Representatives will debate it at length before it comes into effect. So please do not hold your breath!

This seems to be a time of doom and gloom. Unilver along with other manufacturers is predicting substantial price rises in the first half of next year in British supermarkets. Empty shelves are also becoming a worry. What the major brands do not want happening is shoppers witching to supermarkets own brands. But if higher prices are worrying people, what other choice do they have?

New Zealand‘s New Zealand Supermarket Sleuth reports on a new global player about to enter the local petrol, EV and convenience market. in a big way.

A big move, the new player will be adding its brand to existing convenience stores and petrol stations as well as building new ones. Also, news of three new supermarkets in Henderson, Avondale and Hastings, although one is a rebuild of a very old store.
